material imaging
2020

The term imaging commonly refers to images produced electronically of otherwise invisible phenomena or objects using technological devices, as with medical magnetic resonance imaging or tomography. By adding the prefix ‘material’, imaging is put into question in its sense to physical matter; what kind of matter is an image made of and how does an image impact on the matter it relates to? If we consider perspectives from particle physics and neuroscience, is matter and image distinguishable at all? Especially in an environment where image-based content makes up a great deal of everyday experienced perception?
